Track 14: Thomas Muir of Huntershill

Thomas Muir was one of the Scottish Martyrs, the members of Friends of the People who were tried for sedition before Lord Braxfield in August 1793 and sentenced to transportation to Australia.

The brilliant Adam McNaughtan used Muir's own words to make this powerful song.

Lord Braxfield was a "hanging judge". When a member of the Scottish establishment pleaded with Braxfield: "But remember, my Lord, Jesus Christ was a reformer too".."Muckle he made o' that. He was hanget." was Braxfield's retort.
