Charlie MacKerron, Capercaillie's famous fiddler, has put together a group of stellar traditional musicians. With such a line-up this outfit could merit the title "Highland Supergroup"

Charlie MacKerron: One of Scotland's finest fiddle players, won the Daily Record Golden Fiddle award. He has been a member of Capercaillie, Scotland's foremost Celtic band, for 12 years. They have sold over a million albums and toured in 25 countries. An accomplished composer Charlie's music has been widely recorded and he has contributed to the film 'RobRoy'.Over the years he has performed with a wide variety of artistes, including Fish, The Pearl Fishers and Fred Morrison.
Duncan Chisholm was born in Inverness in 1968. He began to study the fiddle at the age of 8 under the tutelage of the renowned Highland fiddle player Donald Riddell. He studied with Donald for around 8 years learning a particular style of Highland fiddle music. The playing of pipe marches, Scott Skinner compositions and a love for playing slow airs formed the basis of his style & technique.Along with many players of his generation, he was inspired & influenced during his teenage years by groups such as The Bothy Band & Planxty who were constantly pushing out the boundaries of traditional Irish music. Other major influences were fiddle players such as Johnny Cunningham, Aly Bain, Cathal Hayden & bands such as Silly Wizard. After a spell with Blazin’ Fiddles, Duncan is currently continuing to tour & record with Wolfstone whilst enjoying various tours & commitments with long-term friend & colleague Ivan Drever.
Kris Drever is the son of singer-songwriter Ivan Drever. A briliant guitarist and double bass player he is much in demand as a session musician A member of “Fine Friday” Kris has increasingly been attracting plaudits for his singing as well as his playing, with his warm, soulfully resonant vocals featuring in five of the thirteen tracks on the band’s debut album. Kris's earlier live and recorded work includes collaborations with Cathy Ryan of Irish-American supergroup Cherish the Ladies, Scottish fiddlers John McCusker and Bruce MacGregor, Irish accordionist Leo McCann and Gaelic band Tannas, well as tours of the US and South America with the Irish dance show Celtic Fusion.
Tim Edey has toured the UK, Scotland, Wales, USA and Norway with the popular traditional Irish and Scottish band Anam as their box player and guitarist. March 2000 saw Tim's' biggest break yet when he joined Sharon Shannon and the Woodchoppers for a full Irish and UK tour. Later the same year saw Tim joining the Michael McGoldrick Band and Trio at a huge Galician Festival in Spain (with members of Capercaillie), Dublin's National Concert Hall and the Mull of Kintyre festival. Tim has recently been recording with Capercaillie's Donald Shaw and Charlie McKerron for the BBC Scotland TV series "Gruath Is Uachdar", a gaelic series and a CD album.
Gordon Gunn is a past winner of many Scots fiddles competitions, was twice runner-up in the Golden Fiddle awards and six times winner of the Caithness & Sutherland Mod! He has recorded many radio broadcasts with Addie Harper and The Wick Fiddlers, and more recently on BBC radio Scotland's "Take the Floor", "Live at the Lemon Tree" and "Mr Anderson's Fine Tunes", plus live work on BBC Radio 2. Gordon has also written and performed music along with Ruby Rebdall for BBC TV's "Beechgrove Garden" and more recently the Gordon Gunn Band appeared on Grampian and STV's "Northern Nights", for which the band received rave reviews. Gordon is a prolific composer and his tunes have been covered by other artistes such as Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham.
Brian McAlpine's main instrument is keyboards, he is an excellent guitarist, accordionist and plays a variety of other musical gizmos. Only 19 years old when he joined the Pearfishers, his skilful musicianship was already impressive. A much in demand musician on the session scene he has toured the world alongside fiddler Gavin Marwick in folk/rock band Iron Horse.
Adam Sutherland is best known for playing fiddle in trad funk outfit Croft No 5. He has also performed with The Scottish Step Dance Company, former Danny winners Fire in the Bog, and Session A9 with Charlie McKerron, Gordon Gunn and Duncan Chisholm. Adam claims if he wasn't a musician he would like to have been a high flying defence lawyer or janitor.
