| if they are the biggest band then they are on to a winner with family and friends alone! Oh well it's only a bit of fun. I made sure I voted before I was beseeched by any random emails! |

BXM:This thread highlights the nominees for a Trad Award. If you do not wish to cast your vote for a particular musician, that's entirely up to you. But please don't come on here, and name a musician, in such a way as to cast that person in a bad light. Not acceptable. .

DELIGHTED to see The Reel Blend nominated ; take note BBC!! I hope it wins, then the BBC might take even more note! (I did nominate the programme myself, as I guess, did many others)
Also very deservingly nominated is Nigel Gatherer, Scots Music Group tutor. |

Quite a mixed bag indeed although there are one or two worthy contenders amongst them.
As I'm posting on behalf of EFC, I'll take a neutral stance here and I trust that the most deserving nominees prevail regardless of the size or style of their campaign machines. |

a good mix of nominees, and wonderful to see the stars of scottish folk recognised.
got to say though, it strikes me as a bit of a conflict of interest (given the connections to the BBC) to note that all nominations in the media category are from the BBC. |

| Well I nominated the Reel Blend in protest against it being axed. I don't work for, and never have worked for, the BBC. Nominations can be made by anyone. There is not much Scottish music coverage on ITV or Channels 4 or 5 or other satellite and cable programmes, apart from some of the late night Gaelic programmes. Other options might have been some of the local independent radio stations, such as Celtic Music radio or the Garden sessions. |

| That's me voted. I included the Reel Blend and the Strathclyde Police Pipe Band. I'll never understand how either can be allowed to disappear. |

That's me voted. A few highly dodgy nominations amongst them though (by 'dodgy' i mean undeserving and not that there is any kind of underhand shenanigans going on). Pity there wasn't some kind of anti-vote too. |

I think everyone is "deserving" but some are obviously more deserving than others.
However, the de facto outcome of these awards seems to support the Andy Warhol prediction "In the future, everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes..." |

This year I've actually heard 2 of the 4 albums so that's an improvement for me. I think Dual is a lovely album but I got it last year at Blas (ie Sept 2008). Perhaps it was officially released in 2009. The McManus CD is quite outstanding, and I've heard good things about the others.
I hope Bogbain does well as Bruce has put a lot of effort into getting it going. Having said that, there are a number of deserving venues in the Inverness/Black Isle area such as Resolis Hall and The Stables at Cromarty, and indeed One Touch Theatre at Eden Court, Inverness where I have seen some very good shows this year. I'm not sure whether these venues were even considered or indeed how these choices of 4 are arrived at.
Still, I shall vote this year because the lists contain a number of people I would like to see do well.

| I hope that those who are deserving will get their recognition without having to resort to Facebooking everyone three or four times - it gets a little tiring. |
