Linlithgow Oxfam Group is delighted to note the return of its annual Folk Night – once a regular part of the West Lothian traditional music scene.

On Saturday 31st October, Linlithgow Academy Theatre will play host to three of Scotland’s favourite acts. Sangsters, from Fife, need little introduction to West Lothian audiences, having had sellout concerts here for many years, with their mixture of close harmony traditional and modern songs, presented with a very special brand of humour.

Gordeanna McCulloch is one of Scotland’s finest traditional singers, performing frequently at festivals and concerts across Scotland and further afield. Stairheid Gossip, based in Edinburgh, is a four-woman group with a wide range of songs, and a wonderful harmony style.

Support will be provided by Sangschule, Linlithgow’s own community song group, with a membership drawn from across the district and beyond. All of our main acts have been involved in teaching Sangschule in recent years, and are donating their services free of charge.

This is set to be a great evening’s entertainment. Come along to enjoy the music, to sing along and to support this very important cause. Licensed bar, Oxfam stall and a Fairtrade stall.

Tickets (£10, £8 concessions) now on sale from Blastoff Books, 103 High Street, Linlithgow, or by contacting: LinlithgowOxfamFolk@hotmail.co.uk

It is now possible to order tickets by post for this event. Tickets (£10, £8 concessions) can also be obtained by post from Blastoff Books, 103 High Street, Linlithgow, West Lothian EH49 6EQ by sending:

- a stamped addressed envelope,
- details of your requirements,
- and a cheque for the appropriate amount payable to 'Linlithgow Oxfam Group'

Having said that, I have just heard that there is a distinct possibility of a postal strike at the end of next week, so book now, to avoid disappointment!

Tickets still available. For any enquiries, please contact LinlithgowOxfamFolk@hotmail.co.uk

Can I object to the use of the word "BUMP"? It is definitely not my favourite word at the moment, having suffered an almighty BUMP on Tuesday last!
Anything you post and submit has the same effect as BUMP, but without all the pain attached!
Elizabeth.

Car? Trip? I hope your 'bump' wasn't anything too serious Tattie Bogle. It is surprising how many aches you can end up with from something so simple as a wee bump!

Still haven't heard, TB. How did your instruments survive their fall?!

Repeated post - sorry, must have developed a tremor in mouse finger!

Fine: well protected by their hard cases. Didn't have a suit of armour on myself. Those who were hoping my bodhran would be smashed were disappointed as I didn't have it with me!
Thanks for your concern, Elizabeth. Tripped over a paving slab.
Dislocated shoulder and fracture of the socket bit of the shoulder joint, painful ribs, bruised knees - just a wee bump!

As if any more inducement were needed...

Spoke last night with the local Oxfam committee, which has lined up the biggest raffle I have ever seen for an event of this size!

Tickets still available, but if you want to know whether there are likely to be tickets at the door, please contact linlithgowoxfamfolk@hotmail.co.uk

With apologies to Tattie Bogle for any painful memories - BUMP!

Ticket sales going well, but not too late to get them. Given the probable postal strike this week, contact us via the email link if you have left it too late to get them by post.
