    2008: Easter: 21st - 24th March 2008

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    2007: 2nd  - 5th April 2007: Bruntsfield School, Montpelier, Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, EH10 4NA

    2007 tutors:

Accordion - Mairerad Green: Mairearad is originally from the Wester Ross village of Achiltibuie and is now based as a professional musician in  Glasgow. Mairearad is equally talented on the accordion, the pipes and the piano and is a fine tune-writer. She is a member of The Anna nMassie Band and Box Club.

Beginning to play together - Mike Vass: Mike from Nairn has competed successfully throughout Scotland including winning two Mod gold medals. He has been invited to adjudicate at music competitions including two at Keith Folk Festival and also regularly teaches fiddle throughout Scotland with the Feis movement. Mike has been gigging in Scotland for the best part of a decade, appearing at Celtic Connections, the Fringe, Eden Court Theatre Inverness, Bute Folk Festival, Albert Hall Stirling, The Tron Theatre Glasgow, Hootannany Inverness among others. He was a finalist at the BBC Young Trad Musician awards 2005 and 2006.

Fiddle - Alasdair White: Alasdair comes from the Island of Lewis, one of the Gaelic speaking Outer Hebrides where music and culture remain strong daily forces. Alasdair has been an award-winning fiddler since he emerged at age thirteen. Still only in his early twenties he is already well known as Battlefield Band's virtuoso fiddle player where his musicianship and tune making have had a great influence on the bands repertoire and continuing success.

Fiddle - Adam Sutherland. Previously with Croft No. 5, Adam has now become a leading light in both Session A9 and The Peatbog Faeries. Adams roots lie in Highland music so expect tunes tales and general madness from one of Scotland`s finest young players.

Fiddle - Eilidh Steel: Eilidh is from Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute and has been playing fiddle for 16 years. As part of various groups including Heeliegoleerie, Eilidh has toured in Scotland, England, Ireland, Russia, Romania and Egypt, and is soon going to Denmark and Germany with her year group from her course.

Guitar - Jenn Butterworth: Jenn has always had a love for traditional music. Brought up in Whithorn in Dumfries and Galloway, she began playing fiddle at the age of 10. She soon began borrowing her father’s guitar, and by the age of 14 she was singing and playing in local venues. As she continued to grow as a musician and performer she travelled with her family to many different festivals across the UK delivering workshops, playing as a band and performing solo.

Guitar - Anna Massie: Anna Massie was the winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2003 Award. A talented multi-instrumentalist, she excels in playing the fiddle, mandolin and tenor banjo. Though perhaps most impressive is her guitar playing - equally at home either accompanying in her unique rhythmic style or flatpicking tunes, Massie’s dexterity shines through. She has performed twice at the Celtic Colours International Festival in Cape Breton. As well as solo performances, Anna also formed the Anna Massie Band – a trio featuring the impressive guitar and vocal talents of Jenn Butterworth and the outstanding accordion and border pipe playing of Mairearad Green. With performances at Celtic Connections, Shetland, Orkney, Hebridean Celtic and Tønder festivals, this year has seen these talented young women’s careers go from strength to strength.

Mixed Instruments - James Ross:  James Ross, from Wick, plays piano, keyboards and accordion. He began playing music at the age of eight, studying under respected musician and composer, the late Addie Harper. He went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow, from which he graduated with a BA in Scottish Music in July 2000. James, as part of a group, was a finalist in the 1999 Radio 2 Young Folk Award. He has performed extensively throughout Britain, Ireland and America, and has recently recorded a live broadcast on solo piano for Celtic Connections, BBC Radio Scotland. James currently plays piano as part of Gaelic singer James Graham's trio and he also works and tours with fiddler Anna-Wendy Stevenson. He has just released his debut album on Greentrax Records.

Singing Out! - Annie Grace: Annie grew up in the Highlands. Music played a large part in her formative years, and she began learning to play the bagpipes at the tender age of ten. Music Festivals and close harmonies with her four siblings gave her a solid grounding in singing and her wasted youth was spent marching up and down Fort William High Street with the Lochaber Junior Pipe band. During her four years at Glasgow School of Art, she joined her first band, The Gunsmoke Trio and Pedro, achieving fame as buskers of great volume, outside M&S in Argyle Street. The Mighty Peelly Wally Ceilidh Band was her second group, which took up residency in the Vicky Bar. Then came the invitation to join a new band subsequently named Iron Horse. In February 2004, Annie released her solo debut album Take me out drinking tonight to an overwhelming response, including a 5 star review in the Sunday Herald. The album, a sparkling collection of contemporary and traditional material, shows Annie at her mature and confident best, living up to her reputation as a superb singer and exponent of the whistle.
