Are you an experienced songwriter? Would you like to share your skills and encourage others to be creative and learn about writing songs? Burnsong is a new national songwriting project and celebration. At its heart is a nationwide search for new and exciting talent; an open invitation to anyone living in Scotland to write a new song, in any style or genre - from folk, to rock to classical . . . A panel will select a range of the best to be broadcast and performed at a new Burnsong celebration in November. Taking its name from Scotland's best known bard, Burnsong celebrates the spirit and legacy of Robert Burns while encouraging contemporary songwriting talent across Scotland.
The Burnsong Sangschool is a 6 day residential training course which will give participants an introduction to the art of leading workshops. Facilitated by Professor Nigel Osborne with guest tutors, the Burnsong Sangschool is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable skills, practical experience and confidence within the inspiring surroundings of Dumfries and Galloway.
