    Summer Schools, Workshops and Classes

    Summer Schools, Workshops and Classes

Learning something new or improving on what you already know is a great way to relax and enjoy leisure. There are lots of classes happening around Scotland. If you have always promised yourself that you will learn to play the fiddle or sing a traditional song why not start this year?

Fèis is the Gaelic word for festival or feast and Rois is Gaelic for Ross-shire.

The flagship event in a very exciting and innovative Fèis Rois year round calendar.

Each year one of the four Scottish branches of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann takes a turn at convening this key event in the traditional music calendar.

Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Scotland's award-winning Gaelic College, is a unique learning environment.

The Courses are structured around an ‘open format’, which does not restrict participants to a single class subject..

Seven day long fiddle based music camp each year on the wonderfully relaxed and beautifully stunning island of Taransay.

Shetland undeniably has a unique heritage and culture. This is especially true of our traditional music. We are often asked how this unique tradition has evolved in Shetland.

Blazin’ in Beauly is the musical extravaganza, started by the band Blazin’ Fiddles in the historic village of Beauly, 15 miles west of Inverness.

The Lismore Fiddle Retreat is a new venture that aims to support fiddlers in a comfortable and beautiful setting.

An informal, friendly bunch of singers who meet to learn new and old songs..

Alasdair Fraser's Skye fiddle course has been going since 1986..

    As Burnsong organisers say " There's a song inside everyone ... "

A wonderful summer school set in South Uist, Ceòlas features expert tuition in piping, fiddling, singing, Scotch reels and Quadrilles, step dancing and the Gaelic language.

More than a series of workshops, or masterclasses, or concerts, or dances, or festival - although it will be all of these and more.

A 4 day event during the Easter school holiday break  which offers children from Primary 5 up to Secondary 6 the opportunity to have a great time and enjoy Scottish music through a series of workshops and classes.

A fun-packed week of traditional Gaelic music, song, dance taking place 24th - 28th March 2008 at Plockton in the Skye and lochalsh area.

Feis Bharraigh begun in 1981  with the mission to promote, encourage, foster and develop the practice and study of the Gaelic language, literature, music, drama and culture in the Islands of Barra and Vatersay.

Groups specialising in 'Singing for Fun' have been popping up all over Scotland since the early 1990s. Offering a warm welcome to new singers, however lacking in confidence, and offering a way of learning songs without the ability to read music, these groups are an essential part of the contemporary Scottish musical scene.

There's no solo singing, no music reading, and no pressure to perform. Men and women of all ages welcome!

A group which provides the opportunity for people to learn about and to share Scots songs and traditions

An important musicial initiative in the Highlands

A highly acclaimed residential Summer School in South Lanarkshire held at the beginning of July each year.

Building community through music, song and dance. Classes, workshops, concerts, ceilidhs, events and much more..
