Partick Folk Festival Partick festival is a popular annual event held in this west of Scotland town and is a ‘must go’ for musicians and festival goers alike. Based in and around The Annexe, in Stewartville St. in the town centre there are concerts, singarounds, sessions, workshops and much more. This festival is a great late autumn event in the traditional music calendar. Brilliant craic and fantastic guests!

After the initial success of last year’s event the Partick Folk Festival is back with a bang! Based in the “ The Annexe” community centre in Stewartville Street, childhood home of arch-folkie Billy Connolly, there will be an exhaustive programme of concerts, workshops and ceilidhs.
Wednesday 30th November, St Andrew’s Day concert with BBC Radio 2’s entertainer of the year, one man orchestra, Rory McLeod. Supported by the legendary “Bard of Hamilton” Peter Nardini singing songs from his new CD “ Is there anybody out there?”
Wednesday 30th November - Friday 2nd December (daily 1-3pm), You can write a song! A songwriting workshop for beginners with acclaimed Glasgow songsmith Ian Davidson.
Thursday 1st December in the “Fiddlemaisters” concert and features ex “Battlefield Band” front man and Director of the R.S.A.M.D. Traditional Music Department Brian McNeill and former student of Brian’s, the world class young Shetland maestro, Chris Stout. And as if that’s not enough there’s legendary “West Coast” fiddler Archie McAllister.
Friday 2nd December The T.M.S.A. Young Trad Tour 2005. Proving that the “Tradition is alive and kicking, this concert includes not only the current holder of “The BBC Radio Scotland Young traditional Musician of the Year”, piper Stuart Cassells but also last years winner, the wonderful Gaelic singer James Graham plus five other finalists.
Saturday 3rd December “ Fallen Angels” presents premier English Socialist singer Roy Bailey. Roy does a show with veteran parliamentarian Tony Benn “The Writing on the Wall” this is a rare opportunity to hear him solo in Scotland. In support we have singing star of the T.V. series “A Seaside Parish” “The Boscastle Busker” John Maughn.
Saturday 3rd Dec. Mansfield Park, Partick 2pm -7.30pm “ Folk in the Park” A free day of Folk and Fun for all in the marquee with internationally acclaimed bands “ Croft No.5 , the 6-piece multi instrumental celtic band “ The Trotters” and the hauntingly beautiful songs of the Gael from the Islay Junior Gaelic Choir, “ Guitar Galore” and a wealth of folk music from local community musicians.
Saturday 3rd December 5.30pm from Annexe, Stewartville Street to Mansfield Park. Come and join the torchlight procession through Partick to the park with the Glasgow Schools Pipe Band, drumming phenomena “Partick Beat” and “The Partick Fruit Band”
Saturday 3rd December 6pm Mansfield Park in conjunction with Partick Housing Association. Grand switch on of the Partick Christmas Lights and the burning of the “ Bogey Man”
Sunday 4th December 1pm-2pm T.M.S.A. Traditional music and Song Association, hosts “The Chorus Cup” competition open to all who think they can strike up a great chorus, winner holds cup for one year. Entry free.
Sunday 4th December 2.30-4.30pm. A showcase concert of some of the finest voices in Traditional Music including Sylvia Barnes, Chris Miles, john and Cheryl Maughn (Boscastle) and John Morran.
Sunday 4th December 4.30-6.30pm “ Singaround” hosted by Traditional Singer Mick West. A relaxed “Come All Ye” where you get your chance to sin!
Sunday 4th December 1-5pm support local economy and Christmas shop at the Annexe Craft Fayre. Traditional and local arts and crafts for sale.
FINAL GRANDE CONCERT Sunday 4th December 7.30pm Partick Burgh Halls, tickets £10. The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland perform their Royal Concert hall “ Sell Out” Show “Making the Change”. The cream of young pipers and drummers from all over Scotland in collaboration with a 6-piece rock band and dancers create an electric tapestry of tunes from Scotland and beyond. NOT TO BE MISSED!
