    May Scottish Music Festivals

    Invites to perform at this festival are highly prized by all performers.

    Historic Coldstream is a perfect setting for this event – halfway between Edinburgh and Newcastle, right on the Border, on the banks of the magnificent River Tweed.

    The folk festival takes place around the harbour and upper area of the town, the venues all within easy strolling distance of one another.

    The Festival aims to encourage young talent to participate in and develop the traditional and historical art of music and dance of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

    In mid-May each year Strichen hosts the Buchan Heritage Festival from Friday through to Sunday.

    `Moniaive has been described by The Times as "One of the coolest villages in Britain"

    Scotland's national poet Robert Burns is celebrated with this annual event.

    A festival of concerts, ceilidhs, workshops and events for people of all ages.

    Feis Ile – the Islay Festival of Malt and Music – was founded by the local people of Islay in 1986 to celebrate the heritage and culture of Isle of Islay.

    "FifeSing" is a celebration of traditional singing, the songs and the bothy ballads - for singers and enthusiasts.

    A traditional Scottish music festival featuring live performances. Concerts, music and dance tuition, arts and crafts workshops and more.

    Isle of Skye Accordion & Fiddle Club, run an early summer  Accordion & Fiddle Festival. Sounds like a great event!

    Knockengorroch festivals have been running twice yearly (May & September) Celtic/ Roots/World music festivals in the hills of Scotland's Southern Uplands since 1998.

    Orkney Folk Festival has been contributing to the musical and cultural life of Orkney since 1982 and has established itself as an important event in both the Orkney and Scottish folk calendars.

    The focus of the Festival will be centred on the beautiful new Perth Concert Hall.

    A n excellent annual spring festival taking place in Grantown-on-Spey

    A spectacular calendar of events will mark Scotland's first ever Homecoming year. So, whether you're a Scot, of Scottish descent, or simply love Scotland, you're invited!

    Dundonald Music Festival: 30th May - 1st June 2008

    Dundonald, a country village in Ayrshire , is steeped in history. The castle whichc dates back many hundreds of years was used as a summer residence of the Scottish Kings.

    2008 will be the first year for this music festival. Concerts, childrens events, and pub sessions.

    Montrose Music Festival: 30th May - 1st June 2008

    Montrose Music Festival features all live music that spans a variety of styles and genres from some of the best local and national bands and musicians around. The festival events are  hosted in some of the pubs and hotels in Montrose, with the headline act at Montrose Town Hall.

    A busy east coast town, the Royal Burgh of Montrose is situated between Dundee and Aberdeen. The history of the town is colourful and can be traced back to a Viking raid around 980AD.  It was once a smugglers paradise with plentiful caves to be found along the rocky coastline both to the north and south of the town.James Edward Stuart, The Old Pretender, spent his last night in Scotland in Montrose, before sailing from the port after the 1715 Jacobite rising.
