    Mugdock International Music Festival: 20th - 22nd June 2008

Mugdock Country Park, on the outskirts of Milngavie is home to this festival. The festival will be a musical extravaganza of cultural diversity, uniting and celebrating ethnicity through the medium of music and dance, as well as workshops and free performances.

Mugdock Country Park lies to the North of Milngavie and covers an area of 260 hectares. It has woods, trees lakes and historic buildings and is one of the area's most popular visitor attractions offering a great countryside experience. The historic visitor centre with its enclosed courtyard and and restored Victorian walled garden provide a spectacular backdrop for the Mugdock International Music festival. The facilities include a well-equipped 60 seater theatre which provides an ideal intimate venue for evening concerts.

    Evening concerts in the theatre:
The festival begins with a Friday evening concert in the intimate setting of the Mugdock theatre. The virtuoso Eastern European gypsy violin of LEV ATLAS, and the accomplished and sensitive jazz guitar of NIGEL CLARK combine to provide an evening of classical, folk and hotclub music not to be missed.

On Saturday, MICHAEL MARRA, one of Scotland's most prolific Songwriters, and a much loved & respected figure in the entertainment business, will truly delight with his humour, his music and the piercingly acute and accurate insights of his stories and songs...

Afternoon Concerts in the Walled Garden:
Once again, we are staging daytime concerts in the glorious setting of Mugdock's historical walled garden.

The Saturday afternoon concert features an eclectic mix of PRELUDE with their harmony-based soft rock: the pipes, drums and guitars of the blazing rock group RED HOT CHILLI PIPERS: and the wild excitement and colour of a MASAI WARRIOR DANCING TROUPE from Kenya.

The Sunday Courtyard programme will feature, among others,  Romanian, Asian and African Dance * Drum groups.
