    The Muckle Sing: 23rd February 2008

    The Muckle Sing
    A workshop day to celebrate community singing, with a focus on harmony, led by Sian Croose
    Sat 23 February 2008: 10am to 5.30pm
    The Regal Community Theatre, Bathgate
    Enjoy the uplifting experience of singing with lots of people, learning songs and harmonising, with no need to be able to read music. All welcome, from the beginner to the experienced performer, part of an existing group or an individual.
    Workshop
    This workshop, led by Sian Croose, will be an opportunity to work with a whole variety of vocal music drawn from traditional and contemporary music from around the world. We'll look at a whole range of songs including material from the USA, Georgia (former Soviet Union) and new choral music from the UK.
    Sian Croose
    Sian Croose has worked as a singer and community musician for the last fifteen years. Based in Norwich, she has directed music education projects around the country with adults and children. She is an experienced facilitator who works with community choirs and professional ensembles in Britain and Ireland and has been recently working with composers, commissioning and performing new choral music.
    Performance Platform
    A spotlight on community singing groups from far and near who get together toshare their songs and perform from their own repertoire.
    Groups interested in performing should indicate this on their booking form. Each
    group should prepare up to 3 songs.
    Programme
    10am Registration/tea & coffee
    10.30 to12.30pm Workshop
    12.30 to1.30pm Lunch
    1.30 to 3.30pm Workshop
    3.30 to 4pm Break
    4pm to 5.30pm Performance Platform
    Refreshments
    Complimentary tea and coffee on arrival. The Regal Community Theatre café will be open for soup and sandwiches at lunchtime and breaks throughout the day. There are also some cafes and takeaways located close to the venue.
    How to Book
    Cost: £10 and £7
    Group bookings:
    Groups not affiliated to the TMSA will also benefit from the concession rate, provided 10 or more places are booked by Friday 1 February.
    Groups affiliated to the TMSA will be entitled to the concessionary rate regardless of size of group or date of booking: early booking is however recommended.
    Individual booking
    Concession price is available to TMSA members, students, senior citizens, unemployed, disabled people and helper. Please state category of entitlement when booking.
