The Traditional Music and Song Association (TMSA) organise a Traditional Music Weekend at this long running festival. A much-loved event which is always great fun there are concerts, ceilidhs, competitions, workshops singarounds, openair music, pub gatherings, childrens events. A festival for the whole family.
Situated on the edge of the Howe of Fife, Auchtermuchty is approximately 30 miles north of the Forth Road Bridge and within easy reach of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Perth and St. Andrews. Aberdeen is only an hour and a half away by car and Inverness takes just over two hours. 'Muchty's most famous resident was the late great Jimmy Shand.

The twenty seventh year of the week-long ‘Muchty Festival will conclude as always with the Traditional Music Weekend; bringing together some of Scotland's finest exponents of traditional singing and music in concerts, workshops and talks on topics related to traditional music, song, and culture.

GEORDIE McINTYRE, ALISON McMORLAND & KIRSTY POTTS Three wonderful singers who will sing solo or in groups of two or three. JIM REID One of Scotland's finest traditional singers is back to visit us this year. SCOTT CARNEGIE Now living in Friockheim, Scott was piano box player with An Teallach Ceilidh Band. He makes up a duo with Jim Reid on many occasions. NANCY NICOLSON Originally from Caithness, now living in Edinburgh and working for Celtic Connections education programme. It is a few years since Nancy has been a guest and we are delighted to welcome her back. BACK OF THE MOON Young 4 piece band with strong vocals and superb instrumentals. CHARLIE SOANE One of Scotland's finest fiddlers originally from Perth but now lives on Bute HEATHER YULE Traditional Storyteller and Clarsach player, Heather enjoys telling stories to both children and adults, often accompained by her clarsach. She is a professional musician and stroyteller who works both here and across the Atlantic FON A BHORD Five piece Dundee based group. EDEN CEILIDH BAND Local band from Kingskettle will play for us Saturday night SHONA DONALDSON Young singer and fiddle player from Huntly who has twice been a finalist in the Young Scots Traditional Musician of the year. She was here last year playing in sessions and we are delighted to welcome her as a guest. BENACHALLY CEILIDH BAND A fast moving band from Blairgowrie area. Some of the faces will be familiar to Muchty audiences. JACQUI BRAND Local piper from Dunshelt making her first guest appearance at the traditional music weekend FIONA HUNTER A pupil of the RSAMD in her 4th year of studying Scots Song, one of her teachers is Alison McMorland. FRED DAVIDSON A fine melodeon player from near Banochory, Fred is making a welcome return to the festival. GORDEANNA McCULLOCH One of Scotland's finest singers and a favourite guest of the festival. MICHAEL PHILIP and FRIENDS Wizard of the accordion from Cardenden will be joined by Suzanne Gray on double bass, Nicol McLaren on 2nd box and Graham Berry on keyboards. JIM BAINBRIDGE Prizewinning melodeon player and singer now resident in Glentrool in Dumfries and Galloway. KAREN HANNAH & TOM ROCHE Karen is a fine young fiddler from Balmullo, accompanied by Tom Roche on the box. THE SUTHERLANDS From Giffordtown, this excellent family dance band will be making a welcome return visit. ANNE NEILSON A fine singer from East Kilbride who studied under Norman Buchan. RON BISSETT Festival stalwart who is excellent bothy singer and compere is once again welcome at the festival. FISHERMAN'S FRIENDS Once again we welcome back the session musicians from the Fisherman's in Broughty Ferry. SHEENA WELLINGTON Always an honour to have this fine Dundee singer as a guest. JOE AITKEN Where would we be without this festival all-rounder who sings, judges and comperes? MUCHTY MUSIC MAKERS Once again we welcome the Muchty Workshop pupils back to perform the skills they have been learning during the year. JANET WEATHERSTON Well known to Muchty audiences, Janet will be running the sing-a-round on Saturday night. JEAN OGILVIE Jean from Muchty will once again assist with judging the Spoken Scots competition and take part in the worksop.
