On The Day - The Story of the Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band (DVD)

On The Day - The Story of the Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band (DVD): It’s the World Pipe Band Championships 2008 - 8000 musicians from 16 countries.  All on one day. A new group, featuring 40 pipers and drummers from Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Australia and the USA has decided to join the battle of the bands. Calling themselves The Spirit of Scotland, and under the leadership of Pipe Major Roddy MacLeod, the world’s top solo players  - including 11 Gold Medalists - have come together for the first time to attempt the impossible:  compete against legendary bands that have been around for decades. What are their chances after just six days of practice?  Will they even qualify? In the end, all that matters is what happens 'on the day'.

Titled On The Day, the documentary follows the band during its one and only week together so far in August 2008, as the group of more than 40 pipers and drummers assembled and practiced for the Grade 1 World Pipe Band Championship at Glasgow Green. Filmmaker-piper John MacDonald of Pasadena, CaliforniaMacDonald and his crew followed the band almost every step of the way, from initial meetings, to practices, to receiving uniforms, and ending with the band's celebration after the August 16th contest.

There are no sleevenotes or booklets with this DVD.  We hope you enjoy it as a unique account of a very special  one-off event.
