| I reckon this DVD dates to maybe 30 years ago. Introduced by the old warhorse Jimmy Reid the Clydeside firebrand, it was interesting to see and hear about the various customs associated with Hogmanay in Scotland, particularly the men swinging the firey balls in Stonehaven and Up Helly Aa fire festival in Shetland. Fire seemed to play a big part in Hogmanay. The food was interesting too. Quite nostalgic as Hogmanay always is, I particularly liked the music from a rather young 'Whistlebinkies'! I'm almost certain the singer towards the end was the travelling lady Sheila Stewart. I enjoyed it. |
