Karine Polwart - Here's Where Tomorrow Starts (DVD): Scots songwriter Karine Polwart combines the economy and universality of the folk storytelling tradition with a probing intellect and compassionate lyricism. Her work has seen her twice winner of "Best Original Song" at the UK-wide BBC Folk Awards. It has been 4 years since Karine released her last solo album "This Earthly Spell", and nearly 8 years since her debut "Faultlines". This DVD is the first ever visual document of how her songs have evolved over that time - how she actually sound right now.
The DVD features her core live line-up of brother Steven Polwart (guitars, ukelele and vocals) and Inge Thomson (accordion, percussion and vocals) and the DVD has been filmed mainly at Heriot Toun Studio in the north Borders
Karine writes "Of course, we've included many live favourites like "Daisy", "Sorry" and "I'm Gonna Do It All". And there are some sparkly reworkings of a few of my older songs such as "Waterlily" and "Terminal Star" with guest percussionist Signy Jakobsdottir on marimba and glockenspiel (my favourite song of all on the DVD is a totally re-vitalised "Follow the Heron"). In addition, I preview a couple of new songs from my next solo album (due out Summer 2012) and I add in two of my favourite Robert Burns songs with pal Kim Edgar on piano. Oh and there's some documentary footage and banter too. All very exciting. "
