A great button accordion player who, with his band, put Scottish country dance music on the world map. His music made him a star of television, radio, village halls and stadiums. He was quite simply a national treasure. On '100 Years of Sir Jimmy Shand - From Miner To Maestro',  Scottish folksinger and broadcaster Jimmie MacGregor guides you through the life of the legendary Jimmy Shand with the help of his son Jimmy Shand Jnr. and unique, never before seen, personal home film taken by Sir Jimmy and his son over the past 60 years.

Musical contributions are provided by leading Scottish Dance Bands filmed at the Sir Jimmy Shand Centennial Concert, plus some fascinating recollections from a few of Sir Jimmy's professional friends.
