    The Bell

    by Annie Grace
    Bookmark and Share

Annie Grace - The Bell: Annie and her superb guest musicians have delivered a beautifully constructed album of original, traditional and contemporary songs, infused with tinges of folk, jazz and blues. The arrangements, instrumentation and musicianship are excellent. Multi-instrumentalist and singer Annie has won praise for her work with The Iron Horse, Scottish Women and Unusual Suspects.  A long awaited follow up to her CD  'Take me out drinking tonight' .

Guest Musicians: Jonny Hardie: Guitar / Fiddle / Viola / Vocals; Aaron Jones: Guizouki / Guitar / Vocals; Aly Macrae: Guitar / Ukulele / Harmonium / Piano / Banjax / Euphonium / Saw / Fiddle / Vocals. With Special Guests: Nigel Hitchcock: Alto Sax; Kevin McGuire: Double Bass

    Media Reviews

a lovely creation from Annie and her harmonious boys

This solo album from the Lochaber singer, piper and actress took her from her Glasgow base to the rural Aberdeenshire studio and home of Jonny Hardie, along with his Old Blind Dogs bandmate Aaron Jones and multi-instrumentalist Aly Macrae. Apart from one appealingly contemporary pipes-led instrumental set, it’s a song-filled delight with gently understated and lovingly careful production. The powerful ballad High The Laverock Sings, where the false lover meets his end at the hands of his spurned partner, is a beauty, and was written by Macrae himself. All in all, a lovely creation from Annie and her harmonious boys....The Scotsman
