Kathleen, a leading performer of Gaelic song, recorded “Og-mhadainn Shamhraidh” early in 2006 in Park Lane Studios, Glasgow. This lovely album was produced by Iain MacDonald. who also played whistles and pipes. Iain called in several fine musicians and singers, including Ross Martin (guitar), John McCusker (fiddles), Marc Duff (bouzouki), Donald Shaw (accordion & piano), James MacKintosh (percussion), Neil Johnstone (cello) and Cathy-Ann MacPhee (backing vocals), who did some sterling session work. The blending of all these talents and capturing Kathleen’s beautiful voice resulted in a gorgeous album.

a notable album of Gaelic song...
A sombre cello plays out the Gaelic version of the great Scots ballad 'The Twa Corbies' (to the old, pre-Corries melody) - the last track on a notable album of Gaelic song from the singer, actress and television presenter. Burns' 'Gloomy Winter' - the main theme from the film The Piano - is here in its harmonium-dressed Gaelic incarnation. There are purely vocal love songs such as the gorgeous 'O Luaidh', with backing by Cathy-Ann MacPhee and Julie Fowlis, and understated accompaniment on keyboards, fiddle, uillean pipes, whistle and frets on other tracks by the likes of Capercaillie's Donald Shaw and Michael MacGoldrick.
a combination of traditional and more recent material, including a Gaelic version of the Scots song The Twa Corbies, all enhanced by sensitive accompaniments.
THE South Uist native is familiar as a TV presenter in the Gaelic sector, but this is her debut recording as a singer. Her contributions to First Harvest's own debut album suggested she had much to offer, and that is confirmed in her singing on this disc. She sings a combination of traditional and more recent material, including a Gaelic version of the Scots song The Twa Corbies, all enhanced by sensitive accompaniments.

The finest singing from Scotland alastairmw
Kathleen’s stunning voice is beautifully presented on this album. The fine supporting vocals and instrumental accompaniment are just right as a backing for such wonderful singing.
The album is enjoyable and inspiring for us non-Gaelic masses.
Astounding Voice! Stuart
I first heard Kathleen sing on the excellent "Highland Sessions" on BBC3, this programme opened a new world to my musical preferences, and have bought several of the artists featured on it, but this album stands way above the rest in production, choice of song, and the quality of the vocals is outstanding. Kathleens voice is unique and after listening to the album the songs stay in your head for a long time after. I loved this album, and fail to see how anyone could be disappointed. I only wish I could make it to Celtic Connections this year to see these done live. Hats off also to Foot Stompin Music who delivered this Album to my door in London the day after ordering.

Og Mhadainn Shamhraidh Sandy
Full marks for service from Foot Stompin' Ordered disc on Sunday, arrived first thing Tuesday following. What a voice Kathie Mac Innes has brought on scene. Sweet as the machair full on, perfect rythmn as a Atlantic roller. Most of all the pungency of a windless, hard frost catch at the back of the throat peat fire day. Once tasted never forgotten.
