    Off The Map

    by Archie Fisher

In the summer of 1985 Scottish folk singer Archie Fisher and Garnet Rogers  teamed up to tour Canada and America. The tour was a huge success and several of the concerts were recorded - "Off the Map" was released later that year on LP and cassette but was somehow never released in the UK and Europe. It was re-released on CD in North America in 2003 and by Greentrax throughout the rest of the world in 2004.

Archie Fisher is one of the most influential folk artists of his time, called everything from a folk father figure to both the James Dean and Frank Sinatra of folk music. He is one of the most distinctive voices in Scotland with a guitar style to match in both traditional and contemporary song.

Garnet Rogers was on the road as a full- time working musician with his older brother Stan from a young age. Together they formed what has come to be accepted as one of the most influential acts in North American folk music. Hailed by the Boston Globe as a "charismatic performer and singer", Garnet is a man with a powerful physical presence - close to six and a half feet tall - with a voice to match. With his "smooth, dark baritone" (Washington Post) his incredible range, and thoughtful, dramatic phrasing, Garnet is widely considered by fans and critics alike to be one of the finest singers anywhere.
