    Nahoo

    by Paul Mounsey

The music is vary varied throughout the album with familiar beats constantly drifting in and out as it plays. One minute it's Scottish folk, the next film music, the next up tempo the and so on, but it all is blended so that it flows together as an album. Nahoo is a refreshing mixture of Brazilian rhythms and haunting Gaelic melodies. The result of that homesickness is Nahoo, which combines traditional Gaelic melodies, samples and samba-based rhythms.

Paul Mounsey - keybords, vocals, programming
Lollo Andersson - guitars, bass, vocals
    Ana Amélia Guimarães - vocals
José Ramos de Oliveira - percussion
Maria Ester Brandão/Koiti Watanabe - violins
    Horacio Schaefer - viola
    Dorinha Mounsey - Illusion recitation

All music composed, arranged and produced by Paul Mounsey except where stated.

    Media Reviews

Set against hip-hop backbeats and guitar work that sounds like Carlos Santana doing 'Big Country'

Set against hip-hop backbeats and guitar work that sounds like Carlos Santana doing 'Big Country', the album includes a sweeping cover of Runrig's 'alba', as well as a traditional tune or two........scottish-sounding airs are augmented by samples of gaelic psalms and enough percussion to make them just a few hi-hats short of hard core techno.

I bought the single Alba out of curiousity and was hooked immediately. I then bought the album which is great from the first track to the last. The fusion of Scottish and Brazilian beats and rhythms work really well together. Don't take my word for it get it for yourself.
