Premiered at the 2007 Blas festival, Na Seòid (The Heroes) is Mary Ann Kennedy's gathering of a seven-strong ensemble showcasing today's finest young male Gaelic talent. Alongside 2004's Young Traditional Musician of the Year, James Graham, a dream-team vocal cast includes three Mod medallists - Calum Alex MacMillan (Daimh), Tormod MacArthur (Meantime) and Gillebrìde MacMillan - plus Norrie MacIver, of Young Folk Award winners Bodega. The instrumental talents of Griogair Lawrie (bagpipes) and Angus MacPhail (bagpipes/accordion) round out an awesomely powerful line-up.

Na Seòid (The Heroes) is the new generation of Gaelic singers – all young men and all instrumentalists. Up to the last decade you were more likely to hear great male Gaelic voices in church rather than in any secular setting, but mentored by broadcaster, singer and harp player Mary Ann Kennedy, this group is set to change all that. Recorded simply, a few tracks might seem a little over-cautious. Overall, though, it's a vibrant assertion of the power of a rich tradition and its new bearers...Norman Chalmers

A very nice album. Simply recorded leaving room for the voices alone of the wonderful singers.
