Laebrack - Chris Stout & Catriona McKay

by Chris Stout & Catriona McKay
    Bookmark and Share

Laebrack features Catriona McKay (Scottish harp) and Chris Stout (fiddle, viola).
Chris and Catrional are members of the thrilling seven-piece Shetland band Fiddlers' Bid. A top-class duo of some ten years standing, they have performed in the UK, Ireland, Europe and the USA, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for several years, and a five week concert tour of Germany and Switzerland.  On this long-awaited CD, the duo perform an exciting blend of traditional Shetland tunes and modern compositions. Although only two instruments  they create a world of sounds and their virtuoso playing leaves audiences energised and calling for more.  A bold cutting-edge album demonstrating a wonderful partnership of traditional instruments.

The album title 'Laebrack' is the Shetland word for 'surf'. And the tune on track 4,  'Souch o' da Laebrack' describes the sound of the laebrack, 'just like a deep breath'.
