Bagpiper Stuart Liddell is an exciting and innovative piper. From his home in Inverary, he has tapped into a rich Argyll piping heritage, with early instruction from his grandfather P/M Ronald McCallum, and later tuition from Arthur Gillies and Hugh McCallum, his uncle. He has a formidable reputation as a free thinking performer in recital, but has also proved himself on the competition circuit with a number of prestigious wins including the Oban gold medal in 2004, and the Scottish Pipers' Association Knockout Competition in 2005.
His repertoire is wide-ranging, from the classics of the piobaireachd repertoire to thoroughly modern compositions and brilliant new tune arrangements. He is a joy to listen to, and this recording captures him in full flight, both in the studio, and in the intimate surroundings of Breakish Village Hall in Skye.
