Renowned tenor banjo player Éamonn Coyne teams up with guitarist Kris Drever. This eminently appealing collection of tunes and songs showcases the gifts of each of these talented Celtic musicians. Traditional tunes and songs were complemented by the addition of several original compositions. The end result is one of the most enjoyable duet albums to be released in the genre in recent years. It brings together and highlights the duo’s interest in the quirky side of the music they play, culminating in a swingy and groove orientated mix of tunes.
As well as recording traditional music of various countries they play some self-penned and some newly written tunes. There are three songs sung by Kris on the CD which receive a simple un-complicated treatment On the recording they are joined by two percussionists – John-Joe Kelly (Flook, Michael McGoldrick Band, etc.) on bodhrán and Erik Laughton from Orkney on bodhrán and snare. Éamonn plays banjo, mandolin and tenor guitar while Kris sings, plays guitar, tenor guitar, mandolin and double bass.
