    Harp I Do

    by Corrina Hewat
    Bookmark and Share

'Harp I Do' is Corrina Hewat's long awaited new solo harp album. Corrina is a very fine player and 'Harp I Do' demonstrates all her skills. Her composition  'New Voice' piece, part of a commision written for Celtic Connections Festival has great feeling and is rather lovely. Corrina Hewat's technical dexterity on such tunes as Ian Carr's 'Amberanna,' and the exquisite delicacy of the beautiful 'Sister's Lament' make 'Harp I Do' a very good album indeed and a must for lovers of this great instrument.

Corrina Hewat plays an old Aziliz lever harp made by Camac Harps.

"an extraordinarily intimate and often moving album, played with an unerring commitment that will likely set a high benchmark to which many musicians can only aspire." Folking.com

The recording is absolutely first class

This is a remarkably crisp and sharp-sounding album of solo harp music. The recording is absolutely first class, capturing not just the melodies themselves, but the palpable tension as each string is firmly plucked and the enduring, humming resonance that follows. Try listening to this with headphones on at a decent volume -- this is music you can feel, it shivers your nerves and shudders your bones, it's like having your ear pressed up against the soundboard of the harp. This may be an album of solo harp, but it's played with a vigour that an ensemble would struggle to match.....By Mike Wilson for folking.com

The mesmerising sound of her harp is fuly captured in these nine absorbing tracks

By eschewing her much-loved electroharp for a traditional acoustic nstrument, the first-rank Scottish harpist and singer has produced a lovely album of solo, all-instrumental traditional music. Rich in high harmonics, and with huge sustain, the mesmerising sound of her harp is fuly captured in these nine absorbing tracks, ranging from the arresting organised dissonance of Chalrlie McKerron’s ‘Dodging Rizla’ to the centuries-old ‘Sister’s Lament’ and a sweet lilt to her pianist partner in Milligan’s Waltz...Norman Chalmers

A fabulous CD that gets better every time you listen to it. A very intimate recording that oozes warmth and personality. What you get is some of the most amazing harp playing from one of the most talented players around. Unbelievable to read that this was recorded in only two days!
