    Hamnataing

    by Fiddlers Bid

Fiery fiddling is the hallmark of this young band from the Shetland Islands and there's certainly plenty examples on this fine CD. Yet, for reflective moods and poignant airs they have a sensitive and beautiful feel for the tunes which lingers on in the mind of the listener. I am thinking particularly of their version of Inisheer learned from the playing of Michael Ferrie, an original member of the band who died at the tragically young age of 21. The four fiddles and Scottish harp are complimented by guitar, bass and piano.

    Musicians:-
    Andrew Gifford:  fiddle, guitar
    Kevin Henderson: fiddle
    Chris Stout:  fiddle, viola
    Maurice Henderson: fiddle
    Catriona MacKay: Scottish harp, piano
    Steve Yarrington: guitar
    David Coles:  bass guitar

    Media Reviews

"This recording captures the spontaneity of their live concerts and should be in the collections of all music lovers."

"This band have it all, drive, musicality and youthfull exuberance. They will go far."

"We are on to an absolute winner here."

Fiddlers Bid presents an insightful journey into the celtic realms of the world we live in today. In a lifestyle with a busy and unforgiving nature, Fiddler's Bid offers a brief reverie. Five gold stars to you!! F and Eil

We wish to express our disappointment in the lack of enthusiastic review. Hanmataing is the piece of music that has converted us from death metal to the joys and rewards of partaking in the community of folk folk. As our souls frolic on the Isle of Hamnataing, we can only express our deepest gratitude towards to folk of Fiddlers Bid, who have enlightened our mundane existences. Shame on you, listeners, for not submitting a review for this fantabutaing group of artistical performers. Five and a half gold stars to you, Hamnataing. ~f+eil~
