Michael Yates writes....."When Hamish Henderson died in 2002 I felt that I wanted to do something to mark the passing of this fine man. I had met Hamish on a couple of occasions and, like all before me, had been bowled over by his sheer presence, enthusiasm and vitality. Hamish had virtually kick-started the present day Scottish folk music revival and it was only fitting that we should not forget such a man.....
This selection follows the same format as that used on Hamish Henderson Collects with performances from all over Scotland. This time though, many of the singers are relatively unknown. Hamish Henderson recorded songs and stories from hundreds of people, some of whom like Jeannie Robertson, became known to a wider public. But, many of the songs came from people who were only really known as singers to their family and friends. And this is a pity, because many of these people were very fine performers indeed...
