Foot Stompin first heard Claire whilst playing with fiddler Aidan O’Rourke in Tabache. This lineup - which also featured Ross Martin on guitar - toured all over in the world playing there own brand of celtic music. We were really excited when Claire approached us with her ideas for a solo album and were even more excited when we heard the final result! The playing on this CD is wonderful. The infectiousness of the music just wants to make you get up from your armchair and dance. Whether on flute, fiddle or whistle Claire’s bright instrumentalising breathes light into the old traditions while never losing any respect. Respect is also due for Aaron Jones of Craobh Rua (bouzouki and guitar) who does most of the accompaniment on the CD. His phrasing is uplifting and really adds a lightness of touch to the recording. My favourite track on the CD is “polkas”. The enjoyment of the performance between flute and piano (Brian McAlpine) totally shines through. As well as Claire’s instrumentalising talents she also has a great voice and demonstrates this on two songs on the CD. I really enjoyed this CD.

There's something here for everyone...
There's something here for everyone, the casual listener or the musician looking for inspiration. This is what the music's all about for me, spirited performances from everyone involved and an obvious joy at working together for that ultimate goal. folking.com

This is a fine album of mainly tunes with a couple of songs, played by Newcastle-born 23-year-old Claire on flute, whistle and fiddle with a goodly combination of deftness and grace, astounding if unassuming virtuosity and a great feel for the music…. She also has the benefit of some unintrusive and wonderfully clear-textured instrumental backing from Craobh Rua’s Aaron Jones (bouzouki), Simon Thoumire (concertina), John Joe Kelly (bodhrán) and Iron Horse’s Brian McAlpine (keyboards). All of this makes for a gently uplifting listening experience. David Kidman
