Chance was a Fine Thing - Robert Wallace: This ground breaking recording came out in 1983 and has been edited and re-issued. At the time very few, if any, solo piping albums were made from live recordings. 'Chance Was a Fine Thing' was recorded at a Scottish Pipers' Association club night in the Dorchester Hotel in Glasgow. The album name is taken from the fact that College of Piping Principal Robert Wallace learned piping purely by chance when his family moved to Whiteinch in Glasgow and he came under the tutelage of the 214th Boys Brigade pipe band. On this recording Robert Wallace plays RG Hardie drones and chanter. Many of the tunes can be found in the book The Glasgow Collection of pipe music. Robert Wallace's excellent collection have been gathered by Robert from the four corners of the piping world.
