The playing of Patrick Molard is unique in that his high degree of skill and musicality has been attained by following a different path from that trodden by other players on the way to top level. Domiciled in his native Brittany, circumstances precluded his participation in the competition mainstream where uniformity of style as well as medals can be one of the rewards. The result of this is a purity of expression instilled during his time with master players R.U. Brown and R.B. Nicol of Balmoral, enriched with a parallel study and the teaching of his own native Breton music. He has played a large part during recent years in the revival of Breton culture and has performed on concert platforms throughout the world.
