Shotts & Dykehead, a Grade 1 champion pipe band has been at the forefront of great piping and drumming for many years. Their Pipe Major Robert Mathieson, a fine composer of pipe music  is also an innovator when it comes to arrangements and and on By the Water's Edge his vision and skills are well to the fore. Some lovely pieces including 'Piper Alpha'  written by American piper Eric Rigler in memory of the 1988 oil rig disaster. By the Water's Edge includes contributions from Donul Lunny (Planxty), Donald Shaw (Capercaillie), Dougie Pincock (Battlefield Band), David Pringle (the Gaelforce Orchestra), Dan Ar Braz,  Eoghan O'Neill (The Davy Spillane Band), Graham Brierton (Horse), Gordon Wilson (Love and Money). Great drumming too under the direction of Drum Major Jim Kilpatrick.
