Angus's playing reminds me of Capercaillie's accordionist Donald Shaw and a further connection is that he has one-time Capercaillie whistle player Marc Duff as one of his guest musicians. His style is lilting and gentle but he can turn up the heat and the tempo as in the Carmel Mahoneys and Johnny Muise sets. Angus has written many of the tunes on this excellent debut CD.
