The CD also features the Gaelic Medium pupils of Dingwall Primary School where Fiona teaches weekly.
Fiona Mackenzie writes.. " Ross-shire has a wealth of Gaelic song and story to offer the interested listener and musician. It was at one time the largest Gaelic-speaking area of Scotland in geographic terms, a fact which is often forgotten today. We hope that by producing this CD of songs from the area, together with the accompanying book "Òrain nan Rosach" we will help singers, musicians and other people interested in the history of this beautiful part of Scotland, to become more aware of the diverse nature of its Gaelic culture and people. We offer a wide variety of song styles, from unaccompanied traditional song to humorous "village" songs and Gaelic choral harmony, from ancient melodies to contemporary tunes and arrangements.....The Full lyrics, translations, staff notations and notes on composers and photographs are available in the book Òrain nan Rosach. Lyrics of the songs not published in the book and included here and lyrics and translations for all the songs will also be available online at http://www.fionamackenzie.org
