Keith Sanger & Alison Kinnaird - Tree of Strings

This book on the history of the harp in Scotland presents an in-depth study, drawing on material from unpublished documents, family papers and manuscripts, which will throw new light on the background of these ancient and beautiful instruments. The first of its kind, this volume will be of interest to historians, musicologists and harp players, and also to any reader with a general interest in Scottish and Celtic culture. This 256 page book includes many photographs and illustrations.  (paperback. 247 pages)

    Alison Kinnaird
Alison Kinnaird was born in Edinburgh in 1949 and lives in Midlothian, Scotland.
Dividing her time between her two careers as a glass engraver and a professional Scottish harp player, she was recognised for her contribution to artistic and musical spheres in 1997 when awarded an MBE, and has continued to collect awards and accolades - including the Creative Scotland award in 2002.

    Keith Sanger
Keith Sanger is well knownin the field of Scottish history for his imaginative and meticulous research. he has published many articles in academic journals relating to highland history, early music and Scottish music. A piper himself, he developed an interest in the connection between Piobaireachd and Harp music, which, along withthe harp playing of his wife, Bella, led to a deeper investigation into the history and background of the Scottish and Irish harps in general. Over many years of study, he has amassed a vast amount of information on the subject.
