The Broons' Days Oot! is a guide to days out in Scotland, with extensive coverage of Historic Scotland and National Trust for Scotland sites, and promotes Visit Scotland's Perfect Day Oot in Scotland campaign. Horace Broon explains that it all started as a piece of homework:
Horace Broon explains , 'Our big project at school this year was SCOTLAND. We had to think up an idea about the country we live in. I remembered all the great days oot we've enjoyed as a family, going to see different places, so I got Maw, Paw, Granpaw, Daphne, Hen, Joe, Maggie, the Twins and the Bairn, to tell me about their favourite days oot. I went to the local library, and the lady there gave me tons of advice. I learned about the internet, and how to look up information. Maw let me have some pictures from her memory box, and I went round places getting leaflets too. Then I printed it all out.'
Edinburgh Castle, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, New Lanark World Heritage Site, and Cluzean Castle are among Scotland's most visited places - and you can find out all about them in this book. Here you willl find ideas for visiting over 200 galleries, and museums, castles and gardens, or enjoying a day at the Highland Games, and many more activities to get the family out and about - just like The Broons! There are contributions in this book from all of the Broons - the first time the Broons have spoken directly to their readers.
It is also hilarious. Irreverent, rude and laugh out loud funny, David Donaldson, scriptwriter of The Broons, has written the text, and this is the first time the Broons have spoken directly to us - and here describe some of their favourite places in Scotland. This book is unmissable. Great value!
