This fascinating little book was written to compliment a CD of traditional Shetland fiddling (Scottish Tradition (4) - Shetland Fiddle Music) illustrating not only the distinctive arts of the older unaccompanied fiddlers but also the way in which the tradition is moving today. The text is linked to each track on the CD and there are insights into life in an island community and various nuggets of information the knowledge of which makes the music on the CD even more interesting.
The Scottish Tradition Series consists of a selection of material previously held in the archives of Edinburgh University's School of Scottish Studies.
