This volume contains 90 tunes and 44 songs from the repertoire of the renowned Scottish folk group The Battlefield Band. Here you will find songs and tunes from the Scottish tradition given new life and relevance at the hands of musicians who view their Celtic hertage as neither a millstone nor a myth. Much of this material has not appeared in print before, or comes from collections not readily available.
The book is divided into three sections: bagpipe tunes, tunes for instruments other than bagpipes and songs. The pieces selected are either traditional or composed by member of Battlefield Band, past and present.
I have loved the music of the Battlefield Band since I saw them at a concert almost 20 years ago. As an amateur fiddler myself this book lets me learn some of their great tunes and my son is delighted with the range pipe tunes as well.
