After the Folk Award-winning exploits of her acclaimed debut album -'Faultlines', Karine Polwart returns with a sensational follow-up. 'Scribbled In Chalk' is quite simply a beautiful recording that will no doubt make many headlines as one of the best singer/songwriter albums of 2006.

scribbled in chalk - karine powart brian richards
Beautifully delivered beautiful, thoughtful lyrics. A singer/songwriter of genius, Karine has done the impossible she has surpassed 'Faultlines'. She has the lyrical class of Joni Mitchell, her songs, about love and life in years past and today, have a depth and passion but also hope. The band support is spot on and there is just a touch of early Fairport Convention about the delivery. This must become a classic!
Just do yourself a favour and buy this album! Paul Mullins
I came across Karine's Resolution Road in a bi-monthly folk publication here in sunny Wales. I knew her name from Malinky, who I was fond of, but the casual purchase of Faultlines off the back of that one track was like a rebirth. Nothing had made me "feel" and "think" and "shout" and "sing" since I was a teenager. It had this effect on all the friends I pressed into hearing it, it became without doubt my absolute favourite album of all time, bar none. Scribbled in Chalk is twice as good as that! Buy this album, it's cerebral, emotional, wry, funny, provoking, frustrating, hummable, feel good, feel sad music, it's everything music should be and so very rarely is. Make your friends listen, they'll thankyou. Play it to strangers and make friends. The only thing better is Ms Polwart live. I'm Welsh and she makes me wish I was Scottish. Buy it!
