Ross Kennedy has been performing Scottish music and song, home and abroad, for over 25 years with bands such as Tannahill Weavers, Iron Horse, the Jura Ceilidh band, Canterach and in a duo with fiddler Archie McAllister. He has recorded on numerous albums but this is his first solo outing. Ross has a wonderfully rich Scots voice which is well suited to the songs he has chosen here and he combines it with some very fine acoustic guitar work. Also featured are Lorne MacDougall (whistle, pipes), Alison Smith (fiddle), Steve Lawrence (bouzouki, percussion). Lovely!

Filled with forceful vocals and energetic guitar licks
Filled with forceful vocals and energetic guitar licks, this is the first solo album (with a few guests) from the long-established figure on the Scottish folk scene. He gives his own tune to an amusing Burns lyric, writes songs of his own, adds some folk favourites, doesn't succeed in his a cappella treatment of the 'Earl O' Murray,' but sprinkles the album with accomplished instrumental sets....Norman Chalmers
