    When Leaves Fall

    by Lauren MacColl

The debut Cd from the BBC Radio Two Young Folk Award winner, fiddle player Lauren MacColl. The recording features MacColl's 'spellbinding and starkly beautiful' playing of traditional highland, and self penned material.

Lauren MacColl - fiddle; Barry Reid - guitar; James Ross - piano; Luke Daniels -accordion. Produced by Chris Stout.

"The exceptional grace and lyricism of her playing was displayed to advantage in several Gaelic song airs, while some twinkle-toed dance medleys highlighted its agile lift and swing"
    Sue Wilson, The Herald

This debut from another Young Folk Award winner reveals a Scottish fiddler rich beyond her years with a huge technique and a style already richly individualistic.

This debut from another Young Folk Award winner reveals a Scottish fiddler rich beyond her years with a huge technique and a style already richly individualistic. A singing tone is married to adventurous rhythmic exploration, to take her Highland-rooted repertoire up musical glens and straths rarely travelled. If her 'Lochaber Dance' invites terpsichorean trouble by setting the reel in a tricky 5/4, the air 'Tha Mi Tinn Leis a'Ghaol' will bring a smile to the folk police. Sparklingly produced by Chris Stout, the CD boasts pianist James Ross, Barry Reid on guitar and celebrated accordionist Luke Daniels...Norman Chalmers

An exceptional piece of work for somebody so new and young! If this album is anything to go by, I can't wait to see what the future holds for her and her music.
