    Granite

    by Paul Anderson

A beautiful collection of marches strathgspeys airs and more from Paul Anderson who is indeed a master fiddle player. With material drawn from composers like James Scott Skinner, William Marshall and Robert Mackintosh to demonstrate most ably his amazing technical abilities, one is not surprised to find that Paul has a great depth of feeling in his playing of slow airs and laments such as the unaccompanied Lament for MacCrimmon. On this recording Paul Anderson has two fine musicians in attendance in the shape of guitarist Tony McManus and George Donald on Piano. There is also a surprise awaiting the listener at the end of this fine CD with two bonus tracks.

Several of the tunes on this CD can be found in Paul Anderson's fine book of his own compositions "The Cromar Collection"

    Media Reviews

his distinctive North-East playing style is rooted in every sinew and his pride in the music shines through in every track of this album.

You don't need to be a fan of Paul Anderson to appreciate the outstanding quality of this album with respect to the choice of material on it or the standard of musicianship and craft shown by this charming farmer loon from Tarland. It is easy to see why Paul is in great demand as a musician; his distinctive North-East playing style is rooted in every sinew and his pride in the music shines through in every track of this album.

Paul can definitely make his fiddle sing and it is true playing from the heart, which draws the listener to hang onto every note, and let’s not forget the true musicianship from Tony on the guitar making this a truly magical album.
