Very bad news.
I hear that the great piper and wonderful character John D Burgess has died. He was truly one of the great figures of |Scottish music.
My sympathies go to Sheila and his family.

| A wonderful musician. I only saw him perform in concert once, about 20 years ago. He already had almost legendary status then and was so impressive! You can read more about this great man: http://www.footstompin.com/artists/john_d_burgess |

Sad news. We played the tune "John D Burgess" which was composed in his honour by George Coburn at a session just a couple of days ago. The first time for ages. Condolences to his family from me also.

I doubt anyone who has met him will forget him. Not only was he one of the greatest players, he was an inspiring tutor and an unbelieveable character! He will be sorely missed. |

There can't be anyone that knew John D. who didn't have a story to tell. I'll never forget his majestic style! |

| That is very sad news - I had heard about the car crash, and how ill he was, but hoped he'd make it through. Sincere condolences to his family. |

| Deeply saddened to hear of this. What a loss - but what a legacy he has left us. |
