Just a quick word about this band who are appearing at EFC on Wednesday. Great music and nice people too. The band features former BBC YTM of the year Lynn Tocker on accordian, the irrepressible Chuck Fleming (fiddle and mandolin)who has played within innumerable outfits and locations ranging from the JSD Band to the entire duration of a bus trip from Edinburgh to Galashiels. Also featured are Frank McGuire(Bodhran, whistle and percussion) and Mark Canning(guitar and vocals).
They also have a website which has not been updated for yonks. Please feel free to comment, Onny ;-)

Not at all. I happen to like this band and don't want to see them play to "an empty house". It should be a good night.
EFC should really be taking advantage of the facilities this site offers themselves. |

Yeah, they should, shouldn't they.
Let's hope tonight doesn't get 'too' busy; unless you're planning to arrive early ;-) |

| First time at EFC for Lyra Celtica. Their set a mix of Northumbrian and Scottish as befits the make-up of the band. Quite a lot of their tunes were old favourites and familiar from the session scene, but there was also a fair selection of self-penned - a particular mention for the rather lovely Floating from Skerry written by Lynn. Accordionist Lynn Tocker and fiddler Chuck Fleming make up the front line supplemented with Frank MaGuire's percussion and bodhran (and a couple of songs) and the guitar work of the band's "quiet man" Mark Canning. Chuck Fleming is their resident comic whose look and style reminded me someone - It came to me when I was driving home - Tommy Cooper (with a Loanheid accent!) |

| Frank, Lynn and Chuck of Lyra Celtica will be at Common Ground this year. They will be tutors during the day and taking part in the sessions and concerts. |

| Did anyone else see the band last Wednesday? I was there and really enjoyed it. Well done Lyra Celtica. The banter was good as well as the tunes! |

Hi kettles, At least four of us here(inc yourself) were there, as you will see from our posts. I'm afraid that I didn't spot you without your mini kilt. ;-)
Next time you go there, make sure Paddy knows because I'd love to hear you do a floor spot...only if you didn't mind doing one, of course. |

| Just for the sake of my peace of mind; the site mentions three members and the home page photo shows 4 people. Where lies the difference? Is this Mark Canning? |

| Nice site. Is there something wrong with the audio file? It seems to be on a loop of a duet of Lynn and Chuck. |

| Thanks for the feedback folks. Mark re-joined the band early this year which is the reason why he does not appear on the recently released album. We have altered the audio sample now to a section of the track where the percussion can also be heard. |
