This is a great idea to support traditional music.
A month-long ceilidh trail with concerts, ceilidhs open-air sessions and more taking place at a wide variety of venues along the sides of the Caledonian Canal stretching from Inverness to Fort William. The 'trail' starts up with "The Grand Opening Ceilidh" in Urquhart Castle Visitor Centre on 19th July.

Ceilidh Trail line up consists of two professional musicians, David Bowen, Inverness based accordionist and Hugh Marwick, Glenurquhart based whistle player. They will mentor four young student musicians: Hannah Phillips, aged 16, from Beauly, who plays clarsach, clarinet & piano, Maisie Cowan, aged 17 from Thurso, who plays accordion, fiddle and piano, Shona MacFadyen, aged 17 from West Kilbride and Tiree, fiddle and song, and Catriona Ramsay, aged 15 from Strathpeffer, fiddle and mandolin. Gordon Gunn will be the Trial finale evening on Friday 13th August and other professional musicians will be brought in on an occasional basis. Guest musician on Wednesday 21st July is Anna Massie.
