News from the National Piping Centre;
"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alisdair McLaren as the new Director of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland.
Alisdair is from Perth, Western Australia having relocated to Glasgow in 2007. He is the former Pipe Major of the Western Australia Police Pipe Band and has competed with the Strathclyde Police Pipe Band over the past 4 years, two of those having flown in from Australia.
This year he has joined the ranks of the 6 times World Champions the Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band. Alisdair is looking forward to raising the profile of the National Youth Pipe Band both nationally and internationally and with this, help progress the youth development of piping and drumming throughout Scotland.
He takes over the direction of both the Senior Band and the new Development Band following one of the busiest year's ever for the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland. Alisdair follows on from Paul Warren as director. There will be more announcements about dates for courses, workshops and performances in due course and we wish him every success in his new position.
