Celtic Music Radio has today, Friday 20 July, been awarded a licence to broadcast on the FM waveband in Glasgow by broadcasting and telecoms regulator Ofcom.

Ofcom considered Celtic Music Radio’s community radio licence application which was lodged in February 2012 as part of the Ofcom Round 3 of Community Radio Licensing in Scotland.

Celtic Music Radio was launched in January 2008 at the start of Celtic Connections 2008 broadcasting on 1530 AM/MW as there were no usable or available FM frequencies in the Glasgow area, so rather than not provide a service, Celtic Music Radio accepted the licence to broadcast on the AM medium waveband.

It will be a while before our programme service will be available on an FM frequency, so keep up-to-date with developments by checking out our website http://www.celticmusicradio.net , or via our newsletter, or by tuning in online and on 1530kHz around Glasgow.

Also, congratulations to Camglen radio (cambuslang/rutherglen) and Sound of Mull Radio (Mull/Iona) who also received good news from Ofcom today.
