Calling all world/roots music artists and DJ’s- the deadline for submitting proposals for WOMEX 2010 in Copenhagen (October 27-31) is
coming up on April 16. Selected acts will be playing in front of 1,000 international bookers, countless labels, distributors, journalists ...
everyone you need to help launch, sustain and expand your careers.

WOMEX 09 Showcase act Kouyaté-Neerman expressed great satisfaction after their show: "The feedback we already have is amazing: a tour in
the UK including the Brighton Festival, a potential festival tour in Canada and options at the Lincoln Jazz Center in NY, Chicago, agents
and release of the album in Italy, 2 festivals in France, and much interest from all around Europe and Asia: We could not expect such a
success. This was really worth the investment!!"

More information from http://www.facebook.com/worldmusicexpo Let’s make sure that there are plenty of great bids from the UK!

$30 (£19.83) just to submit a 'proposal'? Some proposal. It's essentially a basic read-out of information every band worth their salt ought to have anyway.

"Please note that WOMEX is not in the position to cover any fees, travel expenses or other costs. What we do provide is the stage, the necessary equipment to perform, local transport to and from the airport and the venue, and our extensive promotional treatment on equal basis with all other WOMEX Showcase artists. That includes promotion of the show itself, newsletters, online features, publication with full bios and contact details in our WOMEX Guide, and much more. Plus, all invited artists will get free full access to all features of WOMEX plus one free registration for our partner of agreement (the artist representative).
So, if you want to propose a showcase, think carefully about financing and let the Jury know what support or funding you have."

Strange, this. The majority of acts already booked for this, will have been done so by their agents; acts who will be getting paid. In other words, if you pay your $30 and perhaps get selected, even then you're going to wind up out of pocket, your dignity trailing between your legs.

Fools need only apply.
