More than 40 years of full or part-time performance on the Teesside, North East, British and International Folk Scene. Concert , club and festival tours to New Zealand, Hong Kong, Iceland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Holland, Denmark, Belgium and Ireland. Recognised as an authority on old country blues, hillbilly country and ragtime acoustic guitar styles from the 1920s and 30s as well as a songwriter in the contemporary folk and country style. Winner of the Northumbria Trophy for Folk Song Writing in 1975 with 'North Road' and Tyne Tees TVs Songwriter competition in 1981 with 'Stolen My Heart Away'. Voted Best Live Folk Act 2001 in Hong Kong by Radio-TV-HK. Three booked appearances at the Cambridge Folk Festival, 15 years at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and three times at the Hong Kong Folk Festival/HK January Festival Fringe. Ten CD, video and DVD albums....four still available. Live shows are solo or with Fraser Speirs..legendary Scots harmonica virtuoso with 2 years on the road with Paolo Nutini and number one# chart single and album of summer 2009. Player of custom-built Ralph Bown, Gibson, Johnny Joyce, Kay-Chicago, The Loar and Martin guitars.
