It's wonderful to see the school having blossomed into this fully-fledged Sgoil Ghaidhlig. And of course, the South Side will be getting its own school this year at Glendale PS. It was originally built as the overflow school from my own (Pollokshields, which had 800 pupils at the time!) - it was a hotbed of bilngualism in its own way too, way before thoughts of GME! |

Posted: 26-May-2010 14:00 Indeed! A great reason to celebrate and much musical talent! I haven't seen Cathy Ann MacPhee sing for a good while - a Celtic Connections concert with Roddy Campbell of Barra (amongst others) I think - there's a man that needs to record more - fantastic singer! Ahem ....afraid that new school might be a we bit later in getting set up.....I could be wrong.....but... |

Posted: 08-Jun-2010 13:17 Bump! :-) "A stellar line-up of Celtic music’s finest acts are performing with the pupils including Kathleen MacInnes, who recently recorded one of the signature tracks on the movie Robin Hood and who will collaborate with the children on a number of songs and Cathy Ann MacPhee who will jet in from Canada to sing one of the songs she is best known for with the Children – Cànan nan Gaidheal – (the language of the Gaels). Sineag MacIntyre, nominated for Traditional singer of the year and winner of both Mod Gold medals will also perform as will Catriona Watt, former winner of the BBC Radio Scotland’s Traditional Young Musician of the year. A veritable who’s who in Gaelic singing in Scotland." |
