Posted: 03-May-2007 20:37 Not long back from Gregor's inaugural fiddle camp in Spain and feel the need to recommend the experience (no I'm not on the payroll!). Great company, wine, accommodation, sunshine and of course the best of tuition. Like many mediocre players (and I'm being kind to myself here) I want to learn to do more than saw out a tune and Greg's tuition was very helpful in that respect. He aims to run the camp several times per year so dinnae miss it!! Get in touch soon at http://www.gregorborland.com for info. |

Posted: 05-May-2007 14:05 I've recently taken up playing the fiddle and your fiddle camp sounds like a brill idea as I am also a keen traveller and sun worshiper, so practicing my fiddle in the sun would make me practice more. I need all the help I can get (I seem to play better after a few jars....)!, doesn't everyone. Do you think camp would be suitable for me, being relatively new to the 'game'? |

Posted: 09-May-2007 23:45 And my 'ed still hurts too. That brandy was lovely... and large - think that last sentence probably should have been plural? Seem to remember... What a fantastic idea for a holiday for us fiddlers isolated in our normal day-to-day existence; so wonderful to be amongst those similarly afflicted / addicted / blessed* for a whole week! I had a great week - thanks everyone! And I think my playing really improved thanks to great tuition - and actually sticking with the same tutor for the whole week gave a sense of progression (i'm sure that was planned!) And we even managed to meet (and perhaps bemuse) some of the locals, learn a bit of Spanish and see some of the country (a little bit of it anyway!). I'll be back! |

Posted: 12-May-2007 19:17 I recon its a good way to learn, just one tutor and as you know its not just learning tunes, its the technique that makes the fiddle speak ,so you get plenty of that in my classes. and brandy (alcohol free of course) we have a new baby arriving in a week or so - so i wont be having classes until September - so get your name down...gb 0034 96569 2022 |

Posted: 15-May-2007 17:11 Hi Guys, just got my photos back from the fiddle trip. Ah, so many good memories!! Was such a brill week and i'm STILL practicing (good motivation for me). It really does make a difference having the one tutor for the whole week. (thanks Greg, fantastic tuition!!) Not gonna make the one in September but myself and some friends would love to come out to the classes in May again. Can you e-mail me when you get some dates?! Thanks, Dawn. |

Posted: 15-May-2007 17:32 A "bump" is just a rather lazy but, nonetheless, effective way of getting the topic back to the top of the front page. Some are more subtle than others. :-) |

Posted: 01-Aug-2012 02:55 Hi all, time to bump this topic right back to the top by announcing that there are still spaces left at Gregor's next Scottish fiddle week from 10 - 17 September 2012… A whole week of outstanding teaching from a fantastic musician – Gregor looks beyond just learning another tune to focus instead on technique and style. Add in the beautiful surrounds of Bellus in the Valencian highlands, and the friendship of fiddle players from around the world and you just can't lose!
